The focus of this update is to address some mistakes in the tagging system, be that extra tags assigned to some libraries, errors in tagging or just obselete tagging. This has slowly added some extra mess into the NKS tagging system which has been bothering me for a while.
I have slowly worked through every tag in every library and corrected as much as I can find while also fixing up some other small things along the way such as some bank labelling problems, a few updates to images and some tweaks here and there.
All this update work is purely just for "efficiency and cosmetics" for those that value having a nice tidy library. There is no need to actually download and update every library unless you want to fix the odd tagging mistakes in some libraries and ahev everything up-to-date.
Checking & Updating Libraries
Every library hosted on freelancesoundlabs has been through this update pass but this does not mean updates have been done to every library, only the libraries have been checked and updated to this new version to indicate they are now part of this latest update cycle.
A full list below shows everything updated in libraries to help you decide if you should even bother updating.
To make checking of your libraries easier the version number for every library has been updated to v2.6.0. This will indicate that the latest round of updates has been applied/checked against this library.
You can check your library version by selecting an NKS preset from an instrument library then click the EDIT button down the bottom and selecting the PROPERTIES tab.
This will show you information about the library version and the date it was updated:
With every library you will find a readme PDF which contains a changelog at the end of the document (this changelog is also on each product page at the bottom). If there is no mention of the image/database files being updated you only need to copy/replace your NKS Preset files (no need to re-copy the database files).
To update:
- Download the latest NKS library version from the My Downloads area of your account
- Locate the existing NKS files on your system you want to update (you can right-click a preset in the NKS browser and "Find in Explorer")
- Delete the existing NKS folder for the instrument you are updating then copy the new files. We suggest deleting the files first and copying the new files in place
- After copying the new files make sure you open Preferences > Library and then RESCAN your user library (or the location where you place your custom NKS libraries)
- After rescan check the Properties for the updated instrument preset to see if the version updated correctly.

Remember, this is purely an optional update for users who really want to maintain a clean tagging library. If you are not comfortable downloading and updating the libraries and have no real issue with the tags, don't worry, there is no need to download the latest versions.
