I am pleased to announce that phase 1 of releasing an updated NKS library for Omnisphere 3 is now completed.
This was several months of hard work, long hours and multiple computers running 24/7 to generate and tag over 26,000 NKS files to allow the Omnisphere 3 library to be fully integrated into Komplete kontrol and Maschine. I was very skeptical it was even going to be possible initially but we are now here just before end of year, a month ahead of when I expected to be finished and glad it is working.
This library covers the new Omnisphere 3 content in the 18 libraries:
This totals over 26,000 NKS files with sound previews and requires a rather hefty 12GB of HDD space.
There were challenges to making these presets work since initially Omnisphere 3 had problems with freezing, crashes and slow performance when loading the NKS files but Spectrasonics were quick to respond and address the issues I managed to report and after going through beta testing with dozens of users with the latest updates I am confident this library will work just as reliably as Omnisphere 2 has for the last 10 years.
To start with, this library covers Omnisphere 3 content and does not cover the Omnisphere Legacy content. That content is available at the moment via the Omnisphere 2 library which works with Omnisphere 3 just fine. One thing to note tho is the Omnisphere 2 presets do not offer control for the new global main control parameters which the latest Omnisphere 3 presets offer.
An update will be done for the whole legacy library to add new control template and new bank details however this could take a few more months and an upgrade will be available for users who own the Omnisphere 2 library.
Because this is a new library release for the new Omnisphere content there is no “upgrade” from the Omnisphere 2 library, that will be reserved for the Omnisphere 2 to Omnisphere Legacy library upgrade so don’t worry, there is more to come and users will have a discount for that part.
The control template has been updated to cover the new global control section but also makes changes to the layout based on user feedback. You will now find access to the Orb and global controls on the first few pages while all previous control and some additional controls have been included over a new 50 page template. Most of the main parameters are on the first few pages and access to all 4 layers is possible. Thanks to all those users who helped with their feedback and beta testing feedback.
You will need to make sure you have Komplete Kontrol software up to date if you use the latest Komplete Kontrol v3 you need to update to at least v3.5.3 as this fixes a long standing issue in KK v3 with the Sub Bank selector not showing so make sure you update to this version if you are on KK V3 to access all the sub bank libraries. This library also fully supports Maschine v2 and v3 and also Komplete Kontrol v2.9.6.
It is also a requirement to make sure you are running Omnisphere v3.0.2 or later however at the time of releasing this library, only 3.0.1 is available officially. There are downloadable Beta updates for 3.0.2 on the NKS Product Page for Omnisphere 3 so you can update your version, this addresses issues when loading NKS files where the application may hang or become slow so please be sure to update before testing. Hopefully an official update will be available in the new year.
To say this was a massive amount of work is an understatement. Just redesigning a suitable script to save and tag the files was a full 1 month challenge with 3 computers running 24/7 over 2 months to save out all the files. The good news is this has all been tested on multiple machines and by multiple people and has been super reliable.

The Omnisphere 2 library which is now classed as the “Omnisphere Legacy” library for Omnisphere 3 has now been completed and is available. This is a complete redo of all presets in the Omnisphere Legacy library and while Omnisphere 2 NKS presets will work with Omnisphere 3, they do not have the updated control template nor the updated Bank details for the library.
The new library has both the Banks updated for all sub libraries for Omnisphere Legacy and contains the new NKS template designed for Omnisphere 3 which includes the Main Macro section.
This library consists of 9000+ NKS presets covering the Omnisphere 2 libraries that can be selected using the bank/sub bank:
Discounts are available for the full bundle if you own the previous Omnisphere 2 / Hardware Library and if you have purchased the Omnisphere 3 Factory Library already this is also discounted off the price to upgrade to the full Factory + Legacy library bundle.
You will find 2 options now, the “Omnisphere 3 Factory” library contains only the latest Omnisphere 3 factory content allowing users to choose to use their existing Omnisphere 2 library (if you have many marked favourites then you may like to keep that as they do not migrate to the new library). The Factory + Legacy library contains all 35,000 presets for the main Omnisphere 3 Factory and the updated Omnisphere Legacy library. Downloads come in 2 packages so if you already have the Omnisphere 3 factory library installed you simply need to download the Legacy library component and install as per the instructions.
This should now have Omnisphere 3 NKS Library (and Bob Moog Library) fully up to date tho I should mention that 3rd party libraries at this stage are not planned to be updated.

Hi Jason, it looks very promising, but unfortunately I can’t find the Omnisphere 3.02 beta in my user portal. It does look great, though. Great Job.
Spectrasonics have not yet released the required 3.0.2 update however you can download the Beta releaase that fixed the issues that was specifically sent to me from the Omnisphere 3 page that you can install and upgrade your Omnisphere version.

A question. When you say “…if you use Komplete Kontrol v3 you need to update to v3.5.3…” does the antecedent in that sentence refer to the Komplete Kontrol mk3 keyboard controllers? Or the Komplete Kontrol software in general? I ask because I use a Komplete Kontrol S88 mk2 controller keyboard, and the latest version of the Komplete Kontrol software I see in the Native Access application available for download is 3.3.4. I don’t want to buy the library and discover I can’t use it because my hardware controller is too out of date for the latest stuff or something. Thanks in advance! I really hope I can use your library for OS3 as I imagine it’s your usual great work!
It refers to the software. As of releasing this library the latest version of Komplete Kontrol software is 3.5.3 and the library (as with all NKS libraries) will work in ANY version of Komplete Kontrol but when NI released the updated v3 software it had a bug since release where the Sub Bank selector was not showing in the user section (or even for many official libraries), We finally managed to get NI to address this which I really needed fixed for this library to be released given the number of sub banks you can now select.
v3.3.4 was released in 2024 and there have been several updates since then. Current version is now 3.5.3 so seems your Native Access is out of date or if you are on macOS, your system may not support the latest version of KK which will of course be an issue for you if that is the case. macOS users will need to be on macOS 14 or later to be able to update to be able to get the sub bank fix. The library will still work on older versions of KK v3 however you will only be able to select the main bank and not sub banks.

Interesting. Thanks for the details. For the record, the system in question seems to be running the latest and greatest version of Native Access on Windows 10 Pro x64-bit edition.
Then you have something wrong with your install, or maybe they no longer offer updated for Windows 10 (being EOL). I am on Windows 11 and NA is showing 3.5.3 as an available update in Native Access 3.22
Nothing wrong with my install. I think the problem is that Native Instruments has rather preposterously decided not to update for Windows 10. And I can guarantee you there isn’t a single salient bloody difference relevant to that decision for Windows 11. But thanks for explaining at least. I guess that means I’m screwed until I buy a new machine altogether because I’m not upgrading to Windows 11 ever.
Try asking on the forum and see what the answer is. Sadly, using outdated OS means you will hit these kinds of issues and since NI will likely not support Linux any time soon, you will be forced to maintain updates with Windows or macOS, just how the world works if you want to do anything that needs a computer.
Other option is to locate the installer manually and install, I am sure it is downloadable from your user account as NI added manual downloads for installers last year after many users had ongoing issues with Native Access not working correctly.
I got a very helpful reply I thought I’d share: my problem wasn’t Windows 10 per se but rather the version of Windows 10 I had installed. Once I upgraded to the 22H2 edition, Native Access showed the latest version of Komplete Kontrol available. I always disable Windows Update in the most complete possible sense because Microsoft’s busted updates are the number one cause of destroying Windows installations in my experience. But with that new KK installed, I think I can pick up your lovely work on OmniSphere 3, so I’m very pleased about that.
